Hi all, I recently posted about smart wifi devices and can not use them due to my accomodation using a wifi with a captive portal. Was suggested to use travel router which I then did purchase - the GL.iNet GL-AR300M16-Ext Mini Travel Router which is advertised for up to '300Mbps High Performance'.

I set it up correctly, all using the stock settings, however am faced with an issue - the wifi I hosted from my travel router is less than half the speed vs if I connected straight to the base wifi - 25.26 download + 32.36 upload and upload ping is 99ms, vs 68.37 down 68.84 up at 44 upload ping (the rest of the pings are consistent).

Just wondering if theres a step I missed here?

Hey guys got a question about wifi and ‘smart’ light bars not sure if you can help:

The accommodation im staying in right now have a common wifi we connect to, it doesnt have a password on itself but once connected theres a pop up browser screen where you put in your log in details and go from there.

Problem being my current smart led light bar’s software does not account for this issue, in the app where it ask for wifi details - it only asks you to put in password to the wifi which obviously there isnt one and there is no pop up screen for me to put in login details after that step, I don’t think the app is designed to accommodate for this feature.

What can I do in this case? I have a ethernet port in my place and it’s connected via the same way that wifi does - a browser screen pop up that I can enter the logon details into. I was think would hooking up a mini router (like those gl.inet mango routers) to that and create a ‘wifi’ of my own through that, would it work?

Sorry if i got any terminology wrong. Happy to provide more details if needed.
