Tab groups like in the reply below, but also a number of other things such as a fully functional revival of DownThemAll (the webextension version still isn't as powerful), and a number of other useful addons from here.

Plus, I like to write my own complete themes, and it's far more convenient to package them into installable XPI files than it is to just use userChrome.css, since they can be easily distributed and updated automatically.

That's fair, but I get the feeling Waterfox wasn't very profitable for them to begin with.

I personally use it because it fills the very specific niche of re-enabling support for the legacy add-on format by default. You can do this in Firefox and other derivatives, but it's kind of a pain and it's easily undone by updates. I don't know of any alternatives that do the same thing.

These criticisms sound more like they're from 2003 than 2023. The only time I've ever had to "install drivers" when using Linux was back when I had an NVIDIA card, and even then a working open source driver (nouveau) came included by default, as is the case for most peripherals.

If anything the situation is significantly worse on Windows, where you still have to download .msi files from hardware vendors' websites to get even the most basic shit like wifi working on a clean install, and that's assuming you already know exactly what's in your computer to begin with.

Waterfox is no longer owned by System1, and there's no evidence System1 ever added analytics to Waterfox.

Literally none of that is true. Why are so many lemmy.world and lemm.ee users being dishonest about what goes on over at Hexbear? I get disagreeing with their takes but you are just flat out lying about them instead.

This sentiment is so fucking wrong. Please, for god's sake, please understand that Zuckerberg is NOT the lesser of two evils here. Meta facilitated a genocide by artificially promoting hateful content to boost engagement, quietly and without obvious consent performed behavior experiments on its users, and so much fucking more that the two aforementioned points barely even scratch the surface.

You people are trading being punched in the face with being beaten senselessly with a baseball bat.

The meme here didn't even call anyone evil. That said, if you guys don't want to be called evil, stop supporting evil shit.

Conservative policies not only rob women of the rights to their own bodies, it gets them killed too. Either conservatives openly support this or they're somehow too naive to see what the politicians they vote for are doing, and both are good reasons for women to stay the hell away from them.

Believe it or not, it's perfectly normal to only want a relationship with someone who shares your core values. You conservatives (don't lie) might understand that if you actually tried to have an actual relationship with someone instead of trying to establish ownership over them.

Good lord the replies to this are sad. Believe it or not it's a perfectly reasonable expectation to only want to date someone whose core beliefs align with yours (and, y'know, actually respects your rights as an independent human being.)

Your friends and family might not be vocally bigoted, but actions speak louder than words and if they're voting for a party that platforms on racism, sexism, and transphobia, then they are bigots. I hardly think it's childish to avoid dating someone who would support a party that wants to strip your rights away.

Also, Lemmy has always been like this. You came to the wrong fuckin' place, my dude.

ah yes because independent artists just stopped existing after 2000
