That's fair, if you're just looking for RGB control and don't care about mechanical switches or macro keys and stuff, then I would check out what @[email protected] said about openrgb and see what works and is a decent price.

I'm partial to corsair right now, and have had Razer stuff in the past. Both are fine, though still probably (at least slightly) overpriced for what you get. Either way, I don't think you'll regret any of the big makers.

Keyboards in general? Or RGB keyboards? I think all keyboards work fine for core functionality. It depends on what you are looking for out of a "gaming" keyboard. The big makers mostly have alternative software to program rgb and re-keybinds for keys as far as I've seen. I know corsair has a good alt software for both binds and rgb, Razer obviously from this post, and I think steelseries has one but can't remember off the top of my head

I have a mix of a roubo and an anarchist bench. I use the leg vise way more than I ever thought I would, and bench dogs are king for me. The tail vise gets a fair amount of use too. I didn't add a sliding deadman to mine, and I regret it (I have some dog holes in the right leg, but want some closer for smaller stuff). Its my first bench, so I've learned a bit making it as well as using it, so maybe in 5 years I'll make an updated one (which should go easier since I'd have a bench to build the bench on lol)

Yeah, that's exactly it. Even if is made of saw dust, it's (at least in part) real wood in some sense. I would agree that's nonsense.

Yeah, when I build stuff, I always just say the timber it's made out of, but I was talking with someone about an old dresser. They mentioned it was "solid wood", but the case was made out of an old press board. Which led to this question. I wanted to make sure I wasn't confused.

Someone else may be, but I was/am genuinely curious as to what others thought. I have a pretty "purist" view myself and wanted to see if I was in the minority or not.

Do you include things like particle board, MDF, plywood etc? Is there a line? And if so, what is it for you?

Or a dull knife lol

Agreed, I'd take a square and a story stick of sorts over a tape measure

Sadly it's more common than I'd like everywhere I've worked too

I'll be honest, I'm a bit jealous of his confidence.

My journey into it started as I was getting out of religion. Listening to debates about religion had several general philosophy references, so I read about those topics. I had some conversations with a buddy claiming "that's Marxist, that's Socialist" whatevers, and I wanted to learn what those things actually meant and why they scared so many people etc. Basically me not meshing with the ideological beliefs of my peers sent me down some deep rabbit holes lol.

No doubt, but (as a new "convert") most places aren't really set up for a proper plant based meal around me. There are a few options, but if I go out with the family or something I'm delgated to a plate of plain veggies or a pointless salad lol. I hope at least some day that a plant based chicken is as ubiquitous as the impossible/beyond patty

I'm looking for a better, more private solution to an intercom I have between the house and my barn. I have Ethernet run out there, and I currently use the "drop-in" feature on some Amazon echo devices. I'm looking to get away from the Amazon devices entirely (maybe implementing the pine speaker they announced?)

I don't have a lot of requirements, though VoIP would be preferred over a radio style, since it's a metal barn and blocks a lot of signals. I'm good with some self hosted solution, and ideally there's a dedicated device, as I don't want to use my phone or computer for it all the time. I'm probably missing some obvious solution, but figured I'd try to get some ideas together.

Thoughts?
