As near as I can tell, the only thing 2A has done was to guarantee the fascists had an army to call on to attempt to overthrow the government rather than defend it and ensured our mass murderers are the best armed mass murderers in the world.

As opposed to fascism (today's Republican party):

"a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by forcible suppression of opposition"

A moderate is a liberal if they still believe in traditional free markets, individual liberty, democracy, and civil rights.
