just as well, i always struggled with it.

And my teachers at school used to say "You wont always have a calculator on you"

Look at me now, i spend 7.5 hours a day paid to sit in front of an expensive calculator with two other expensive calculators in my pocket. after which i spend several hours on my own personal expensive calculator before going to bed and doom scrolling on one of the aforementioned.... expensive calculators.

Anything more than the most basic mental arithmetic at school was a waste of time that would have been better spent teaching me how to code. would have saved me teaching myself a few years later after working a soul crushing call centre job for 4 years (in which i used a not very expensive and dog shit slow calculator)

Can you count backwards by 7s

counting backwards in multiples of 7? i'd struggle with that and i consider myself at least average

it isn't. In the UK where i am all your taxes are deducted from your salary before you're paid. if you overpay you get an automatic rebate at the end of the year. if you're in normal employment you should never have to speak to HMRC, your companies HR do it on your behalf in the rare event something comes up

Theres quite a lot of humans on this planet. collectively we are capable of performing more than a single task y'know.

I'm not a climate scientist, but i am a programmer. i'd be much more useful on this sort of thing than trying to program my way out of climate change

What does North Korea get out of this?

goodwill from an arms exporter. money, food, other aid. actual military experience for their armed forces.

In my current job the old manager okayed working on our own devices.

I would use my personal workstation to ssh into and do work on my work mac, did that for a few years. saved me disassembling my desk between uses every day or buying a costly KVM.

They seem to be getting a lot more uptight about security these days (although the "you can work on personal devices" rule hasnt been explicitly rescinded) so i have stopped interaction between my personal devices and work devices.

Having a M2 mac recently makes it easier, i can lie in bed and work pretty much all day on a single charge so my desk remains intact

These, as far as i'm aware, have come straight from steam. I've searched for these online but haven't found anyone else getting the same error.

I currently own two canon cameras, an EOS M10 i bought around 2017/2018 new for around £150 and a secondhand EOS 1300d i bought last week from a second hand electronics shop for £110 (body only, i already had lenses from an old EOS 200d)

Spec wise they seem to be extremely similar cameras just with the 1300 being larger with better lenses and more manual features

My dad mentioned that he was thinking of buying a new camera as his one was bought way back in like 2010 and wasn't a particularly up to date model at the time so i am considering selling him my M10.

looking at ebay though they seem to be going for £200-400 which i find a bit strange for a camera that first hit the market back in 2015 and is way more than i paid new (although reduced to clear) from John Lewis.

Am i missing something? How much is the M10 worth? and is it really worth more than it's newer (2016) DSLR counterpart?

I want to display a symbol at the top right of one or both of my screens, similar to the lightning bolt symbol raspberry pi OS uses to indicate lack of power, when certain conditions are met.

I'm pretty sure i could cobble a bash script together to decide when to do it, but it's the actual displaying of the symbol i'm not sure where to start on. It would need to appear on top of anything else that may be on the screen at the time

Everything i have tried googling returns irrelevant results
