If it isn’t a complete landslide against the Fascists, it will be a loss to democracy.

But that Spectrum being used for 3G is beneficial. Not just for support of older devices but also increased, redundant coverage.

This purely Corporate Welfare legislation, which is going to backfire on the corporations when they realise they have to build more infrastructure to provide the same coverage.

It is going to be detrimental to product consumers because they won’t have the same amount of coverage. Also, the higher bandwidth of 5G is going to increase backhaul requirements which mean that the person calling 000 using VoLTE will need to compete with the person steaming 4K Netflix while playing CoD.

The only winners in the long-term will be the advertisers and data miners, who somehow manage to bloat a 4kB website to 40mB.

A lot of not-that-old computers don’t meet the system requirements for Windows 11.

And by “not-that-old” I mean serves the limited purpose it was built for 8 years ago and is still working perfectly fine.

Hardware is lasting longer, users are less demanding.

OK Looks like my little MS Surface is going to be running Linux.

It was the Telecom Oligarchs that kept the speed and infrastructure limited.

I really wish that Telstra had not been accepted into the NBN; In my alternate history, FTTH would have been rolled out in parallel to all existing corroded copper. The problem with my alternate timeline is that Telstra would try to push fixed 4G and 5G as their only option and oversaturated the MobileNet infrastructure… wait they are doing that anyway!

Some imported dual-cab utes struggle with the kerbs of drive throughs.

Only people who are serve no useful purpose in their organisation.

There used to be an insult for these people “shut up or I will replace you with a very small shell Script”.

I only know one person who put LLM to use. He used to write copy for advertising agency’s who wouldn’t actually read the copy before it was published. He eventually outsourced to India so he didn’t want to spend time writing something that no one would ever read. Eventually he used ChatGPT made some scripts to automate the whole process.

Once he even sent Lorem Ipsum text and it was published. No one noticed. He eventually outsourced to India so he didn’t have to spend time writing something that no one would ever read. Most of the arseholes who are arseholes on the Internet are arseholes I’m real life too.

People who chat at the grocery store, or wish you a good day when you are waking in the street are also usually people who are friendly and helpful on the Internet too.

People who get angry because someone else has the gumption to share a road with them are also the kind of people who abuse other Internet users because they share a server in an online game, social network or forum with them. They are also the type of people who get angry queuing at the supermarket and abuse retail workers.

It depends on the Jurisdiction.

IANAL, but in Australia, the Driver is responsible if any passengers are not wearing their seatbelt.

Same as. Certain family members expect everyone to be on Facebook and also drink all of Zucks Kool-Aid.

I just don’t go to those family events, unless I’m personally invited. If an event only exists of Facebook, it does not exist to me.

I have 2FA apps on my phone for work. I also have the horrendous HR app for applying for Annual Leave. If they insist that I need more work-related apps on my personal phone, I will be getting a second phone and using that exclusively for work. It will be turned off when I walk out the door at the end of the day and kept in my office drawer.

Any advice on Android Headunits? I fitted a cheap (~AU$100) AliExpress special to my nieces Tiguan on the weekend (fulfilling a promise I made to her when she first got her car). It has CarPlay and FM Radio and she is ecstatic. Even with the crapware, it is faster and more reliable than the factory Suzuki Bosch unit.

Now I have decided that the OEM Bosch+iPhone+iPad solution I use for XRS Connect, GaiaGPS, NewTracs and CarPlay is too messy/clunky.

Does anyone have experience with splitscreen or multitasking on the 9", 12.3" and the vertical 9.7" Android head units?

Also, what do the larger headunits look like from other angles. I am leaning towards the 9" units because the larger ones overhanging the edges of the console looks a bit naff.

Considering that the VIN number needs to be inspected and verified for each vehicle during the entire Import/Compliance/Distribution/Delivery process, this is a pretty big balls-up.

Long weekend away (aussie.zone)

All packed up again after a long weekend away.

I've finished installing my new BeiHouse rear bar. I love how light it is and how much better designed it is compared to the OEM Australian TowBar. It is styled to look like the OEM Rear bar, but with an even greater exit angle and an integrated tow hitch. Some rated recovery points are also on the way.

Our Jimny club went for a drive with a UniMog last weekend. We decided to pose for this Photo(shop).

Apparently, 90% of caravans are overloaded in QLD.

New Caravan owners also don’t know how to tow.

I finally got around to installing Radius Rod Protectors.

My number 1 recommendation if you are going off-road.

What are peoples’ opinions of the new Victorian distracted driving rules?

My interpretation is that they are more lenient than the previous rules in some ways but much more onerous in others.

Mueller River Campground has 5 vehicle-accessible sites, 3 pedestrian-access sites. Each site has access to the inlet beach for canoeing, fishing and swimming.

The nearby Thurra River Campground is not currently accessible due to fires and floods taking out the bridge.
