Russian ties, if present, are indeed dangerous. Laying unsupported claims to "russian connection" is just as bad as any other libel or damaging unsupported claim. Should we spend time eradicating russian influence - absolutely. How do we do it without turning it into a witch hunt? I don't know how.

any time you buy DRM'd content you're subject to revocation of rights to use it. So buying such content along with purchase of devices geared specifically for DRM-only content is doomed from the beginning.

that's not good news for her. Even in best case scenario when they do not want anything in return - optics will be that she's about billionaires and not commonfolk. Whereas POTUS45 supported by Koch brothers and such on a Qpaints him as folk hero... bad news to start, now we mix in the part where they want something in return... it gets worse yet.

then support for other parties should've been declared much earlier, never dangled like carrot in front of Dems, 'cause by now you should know it won't work. I get it. In present system there's very little chance of third party getting to power, but look at Canada - NDP was able to wield power with much lower representation. How? Minority government forces compromise and concessions. In other words it can be done, but work needs to start right after prior election, not before current

funny that nobody argued opposite: all the new services are primarily streaming/hosted and otherwise "not here". New crop of tech solutions requires crap-ton of bandwidth. So caps prevent those companies from doing ripping off customers in other areas. How un-Republican is that? They are getting in the way of enterprises making a living! So the most Republican thing to do would be to let foxes watch the henhouse. Ask ISPs to regulate themselves so that "everybody"'s (and I mean every enterprise) happy. In other words getting in the way of this proposal is very much just "polid'ticking" trying to undo what dems are doing regardless whether it's actually a conservative thing to do or not.

this was the first and only administration on my memory to openly support unions. They've done quite a few things to improve lives. They did help out their rich donors/friends/sympathithers but not even close to the scale POTUS45 done it.

In all honesty both Dems and Reps should go. Country deserves pluralism and not the false duality. BUT right now, at this moment in time Dems are the only real shot at moving forward. After election, start up the grill and hold their feet to fire and FORCE them to change then otherwise rally behind any other party and make damn sure they win next ellection. Doing so at 11th hour is reckless

some crypto learned to be efficient, others did not. We still do have crypto-mining botnets. Crypto remains to be useless to humanity and very profitable for few. Same with AI. Same with stock market. Instead of producing something of value we keep on burning through resources while selected few enjoy bonfire others have to fight to stay alive...

not only does he burn through cash, he burns through resources making life worse now for everybody: AI rivals crypto in resource waisting while not contributing at all to any improvements. I fail to see "brighter future" for us through AI as it is energy-intensive, unsustainable endeavor for which we are woefully unprepared both materially (energy efficiency, semiconductor manufacturing/recycling, etc) and psychologically (ethics etc.). Yeah, grand on paper, terrible in reality

I'm trying to make my own window sills in our new house. We have windows rather deep so depth is around 9in and wide - 42/60in. I'm looking at read oak vs douglas fir. Red oak is mainly available in sub 8in cuts. The only one I found in 9in is 3/4 thick. Would that be sufficient to support plant pots or potentially human sitting on them? However Fir I can get in various sizes so I was looking at 1in thick.

Which one would be more practical? Oak at 3/4 or Fir at 1in?

My reading was that fir is sufficiently softer so plant pots may leave imprints etc. or am I wrong there?

I've tried several clients now, and unlike Reddit clients I cannot locate any of the posts/comments I've upvoted in the past? Is that a bug/feature of the platform?

I just found out that sometime in the last month or so while doing regular updates Wine got bumped to 8.12... (likely from 8.0) and my games have gone haywire: Neverwinter Nights and Diablo2 would kind of start but then halt. Switching to desktop and back unblocks games for the next few seconds and then things repeat.

I've downgraded wine to 7.12 and things are working back.

Question: should I have done some migration step for 8.12 to work properly or is it even a known issue?

I am using PlayOnLinux for Diablo2 with System Wine and Vanilla System wine for NWN.
