I went searching for something today and instinctually clicked on a reddit link. Fortunately the sub was dark for the protest anyway, but it's crazy how ingrained in me it is to go to reddit for everything.

Unfortunately now we're going to have to get used to clicking on those clickbait tech articles like "TOP 10 FACEBOOK ALTERNATIVES 2023" to find information, and weed out the crappy blogs.

I recommend using Mlem on iOS TestFlight.

Trust me; they're coming. As a borderline asexual person I'd want nothing more than a non horny refuge, but that will never exist. Humans are far far too horned up to allow for that.

This is exactly the analogy I use even trying to explain fediverse to normies.

IDK I just kinda like being on the OG instance/the instance with the devs. Also why I am on mastodon.social.

A game on Mac and iOS called Cityscapes. It's pretty addicting.

I'm from Lemmy.ml and replying to this! Isn't federation great?

...my week is going well, btw. Getting some Qdoba today for lunch with the bf.

I'm ok with the smarter people forming communities elsewhere like Lemmy. Reddit brain drain will definitely be a thing. It's going to be the new Facebook when this is all over.

I deleted it and just use a rss reader to access any subs I care about.

Half bad!? Lemmy is the bee’s knees!

Basically just ripoff Apollo entirely.

I'll still be browsing it with Reeder 5. When they shut off RSS then I'll be completely gone.

I literally just bought an iPhone with a large part of that decision being the ability to use Apollo. I'm absolutely devastated. That app is a hardware seller. It's the iOS equivalent of a Zelda title on a Nintendo console.

I’m a bit confused as to what platform I should look to for my exodus from Reddit. First we have Lemmy which is a direct Reddit alternative. Then we have kbin which is ALSO is own Reddit alternative AND portal to Lemmy/Mastodon. Finally we have Mastodon which is the well established Twitter alternative that doesn’t really portal to Lemmy or Kbin.

I’m ok with Mastodon being it’s own thing, but what about Lemmy and Kbin? Kbin seems more secure and flexible but Lemmy is longer running with apps available on iOS and Android.

Which do you think you’ll be gravitating towards?
