This piano ballad grand masterpiece became the signature song and the centerpiece of their simultaneous twin double album releases Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II.

Clocking in at almost 9 minutes, “November Rain” features Rose’s desperate vocal and heartfelt piano. A depressing autumn tale of lost love, Slash’s inspired soaring guitar solos and the band’s dramatic dynamics over a crescendo of a swirling string section backed by a powerful choir make the song an instant classic.

The song had been a work-in-progress since 1983. Former GNR co-founder and guitarist Tracii Guns explained:

When we were doing that EP for L.A. Guns, like ‘83? He was playing “November Rain”—and it was called “November Rain”—you know, on piano. Way back then, it was the only thing he knew how to play, but it was his. He’d go, “Someday this song is gonna be really cool.” And I’d go, “It’s cool now.” “But it’s not done”, you know, he used to say. And, like, anytime we’d be at a hotel or anywhere, there’d be a piano; he’d just kinda play that music. And I’d go, “When are you gonna finish that already”, you know? And he’d go, “I don’t know what to do with it.”

The lyrics and video are based on a short story by Del James called “Without You” from a collection called The Language of Fear, which was brought back to market in 2008 after being out of print. The new version of the book contains an intro by Axl Rose, who wrote:

Del James has a personal knowledge of most of the situations he writes about, and has a love of the gutter from having been there.

James has also contributed lyrics to GNR songs The Garden" and “Yesterdays” and has directed several music videos.

“November Rain” hit #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, #9 in Germany where it charted for 51 weeks, #5 in Australia riding the Top 10 for 22 weeks and #7 in New Zealand ending 1992 as their second best-selling single.^[[1] https://genius.com/Guns-n-roses-november-rain-lyrics]

Here’s the part where you form your opinion. The act of killing your own people to avoid a capture instinctively sounds terrible. But also consider what it means to be captured and likely tortured for an indeterminate time.

“this is a sad tactic but it’s a part of war”

"Friendly Fire" is a term used in military situations, but killing your own people on purpose, I do not see that as being a "sad tactic."

The article explains what happens when Israelis are taken hostage; a hostage exchange happens, which Israel does not want to do; that is why the Hannibal Directive was used on October 7th with civilians.

Since many were being taken hostage, while we also know how they were being treated by Hamas, the article explains and other interviews show what the hosatges said while being hostages of Hamas.

One year ago today Palestinian fighters led by Hamas launched an unprecedented military offensive out of the Gaza Strip.

The immediate goal was to inflict a shattering blow against Israel’s army bases and militarized settlements which have besieged Gaza’s inhabitants for decades – all of which are built on land that Palestinian families were expelled from in 1948.

The bigger goal was to shatter a status quo in which Israel, the United States and their accomplices believed they had effectively sidelined the Palestinian cause, and to bring that struggle for liberation back to the forefront of world attention.

Young or old, propaganda works on those of all ages; building up our critical thinking skills should be the goal for everyone.

Just looking at the current political tribalism, it is at an all-time high again.

Owner-class media (Main Stream Media or Legacy Media) trust is at an all-time low, while independent journalists are increasing their grassroots support.

Dedicated to dialogue and peace!

At Dialogue works, we believe there’s nothing more unstoppable than when people come together.

A dream team of MCs came together to record this song for Tech's 2011 album The Martyr.

Tech joins forces with some of the finest rappers from the Third and Fourth Coasts, Atlanta’s Killer Mike and Minneapolis' Brother Ali, and gets an assist on the hook from Mr. How-Low-Can-You-Go himself, Public Enemy’s Chuck D

We Fell In Love In October (Live at Wembley Arena, London) [03:07 | OCT 01 2024 | girl in red | https://youtu.be/gEQFHjDt4HU]

“we fell in love in october” is about girl in red and her relationship with another girl. The song is about how they fell in love during fall and Marie’s (girl in red’s) feelings toward her.

In an interview with The Fader, Marie states that there was a lot of drama between the two and that she struggled accepting her. After a while when everything began to settle in, she accepted her and created this song as a tribute.

This song is a prequel to girl in red’s “forget her”, which is about the two breaking up. “we fell in love in october” is girl in red’s most popular song on Spotify to date.^[[1] https://genius.com/Girl-in-red-we-fell-in-love-in-october-lyrics]

“Jenny” is the seventh track and fourth single on Studio Killers' eponymous debut album.

The song is about a woman who is in love with her best friend Jenny. While the narrator values their friendship, she longs for them to become lovers instead.

According to Cherry, “Jenny” is a song that she wrote before she was involved with the band. She said it was inspired by her lesbian romantic interest in a woman of the same name.

In a Finnish radio interview, the band explained that they believe the idea of a lesbian relationship is nothing to be shy away from.^[[1] https://genius.com/Studio-killers-jenny-i-wanna-ruin-our-friendship-lyrics]

[Verse 1]
October and the trees are stripped bare
Of all they wear
What do I care?

[Verse 2]
October and kingdoms rise
And kingdoms fall
But you go on
And on

“October” is the title track off U2’s second studio album, released on 12 October 1981.

This short song describes the October season and Bono’s lack of care for the environment surrounding him.^[[1] https://genius.com/U2-october-lyrics]

“Wake Me Up When September Ends” is the only song on American Idiot that has no direct connection to the album’s story arc.

Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote this about his father, who died of oesophagal cancer on September 1st, 1982. The title allegedly comes from what 10-year-old Billie Joe Armstrong told his mother after his father’s funeral. He had locked himself in his room and when his mother knocked on the door, he replied, “Wake me up when September ends”.

This was originally supposed to be on Shenanigans, but Billie wasn’t emotionally ready to record it, so it was put onto American Idiot.^[[1] https://genius.com/Green-day-wake-me-up-when-september-ends-lyrics]
