I thought Vodafone used Openreach for their network?
If that's the case you wouldn't normally need to use their router as the ONT modem should plug into another router directly (just need whatever connect settings). I know for a fact Plusnet allow any router that allows the right login settings to be used directly.
EDIT - I realise you may be in one of a few countries with Vodafone (I'm in the UK) - what country is this?
