I've never read this, and I don't know if it's even a song or a poem or what... and yet somehow, I get the feeling that they're lyrics to a TOOL song.
I came here to say this... that shit is insane.
It seems like you would probably prefer baking as it is a much more exact science.
As someone who loves cooking but doesn't have a dishwasher: it is the cleanup afterwards that kills me. Especially if I don't do it immediately.
With certain things, you can clean as you go, but sometimes I need to tend to something and I end up fucking it up because I'm running around the kitchen trying to wash out the pan I just used while something else is burning.

Snap - I've never seen or heard any evidence of something snapping by any definition of the word I'm aware of.

It's not semantics, they are two different things.
And to your edit... Are you upset that there are two different words that mean two different things? I don't understand.
