No disagreement that the fascists in the west are taking notes, of course.

But the first part of your post implies that nobody is doing anything. I responded to that.

Frankly, I am actually at a loss at what else could be done and it's heartbreaking. The taliban are inventing a whole new type of apartheid at the heels of decades of western intervention. Russia just recognized them and seems to be the only country able to engage them. I got nothing but impotent rage.

As far as I know, my no western country has diplomatic relations with the Taliban regime, and there are sanctions in place and conditions attached to aid. What else would you want the West to be doing?

Sounds like the city of Toronto needs to update the water main outside the premier's house.

That's a bad headline. Watch his video, he makes a much more nuanced argument.

~~Nah, take a page from the Germans and make it a mandatory part of the curriculum of every school board, across every province, build memorials and fund films and cultural programs to institutionalize the memory. It will take 10 years but it will work better than any criminalization.~~

EDIT: See comment below. Also, TIL: Holocaust Denial is criminal in Canada, too.

Hezbollah issued an evacuation order yesterday evening for Israeli settlers in 25 northern settlements, mirroring the occupation forces’ actions in Lebanon. The move follows widespread Israeli evacuation orders targeting areas including Beirut’s Southern Suburb, Southern Lebanon, the Bekaa, and parts of Tyre, with claims of Hezbollah military presence in civilian homes.

Hezbollah stated that the settlements had become military outposts for Israeli forces attacking Lebanon, making them “legitimate military targets” for its air and missile forces. Settlers were told to “evacuate immediately,” as their settlements had become bases for the enemy military. A video issued by Hezbollah’s Military Media reiterated this warning.

ANKARA, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Turkey said on Wednesday that a deadly attack was carried out at the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) near Ankara, while media reported a loud explosion at the site and showed footage of an exchange of gunfire there. "A terrorist attack was carried out against the TUSAS facilities in Kahramankazan, Ankara. Unfortunately, we have martyrs and injured people," Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on social media X.

“The Israeli prime minister came here today and said that Israel is surrounded by those who want to destroy it,” Safadi said at a Friday press conference shortly after Netanyahu finished his speech at the UN General Assembly.

“We’re here — members of the Muslim-Arab committee, mandated by 57 Arab and Muslim countries — and I can tell you very unequivocally, all of us are willing to guarantee the security of Israel in the context of Israel ending the occupation and allowing for the emergence of a Palestinian state,” Safadi passionately argued.

Netanyahu “is creating that danger because he simply does not want the two-state solution. If he does not want the two-state solution, can you ask Israeli officials what is their end-game — other than just wars and wars and wars?”

Also, video of the statement.

TFW you support Israel so much that you start treating Palestinian children just like they do.

According to Barbara Bedont, Alkhdour's lawyer, the charges come from a protest that took place last Thursday in front of the Liberal campaign office, with Miller nearby. Bedont said Alkhdour was packing her belongings after the protest, when Miller showed up in a vehicle. She said Alkhdour approached the vehicle and "expressed her feelings about his policies." "They said 'shame on you' and 'you're a child killer.' Things like that — political speech," the lawyer said, adding that Miller was in the vehicle the whole time before it drove off. She said the interaction lasted about five seconds, with Alkhdour standing about a metre away from the vehicle, and the other two people charged standing further back. "At no time was he ever threatened," Bedont said. "There was no violence. It was a purely peaceful expression of her political views."

Alkhdour's protests began shortly after the death of her 13-year-old daughter, Jana Elkahlout, who was born with cerebral palsy. Alkhdour, her husband and two of her children moved to Quebec in 2019, and started the process of bringing Jana to Canada, after she was forced to stay in Gaza due to the unavailability of safe ambulance travel between there and Egypt. After years of trying to get her daughter to come to Canada, the family finally received the green light from the federal government in January, but Jana was already dead.
