A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

The M1 Abrams main battle tank, mind. This diagram indicates nothing about the M1 Garand or M1 carbine.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 5 months ago (2 children)

M1 helmet is probably pretty safe. M1 chemical landmine, probably not

M1 chemical landmine, probably not

Well not with that attitude it ain't. Children need to learn this stuff you know

[–] [email protected] 20 points 5 months ago (2 children)

the children yearn for the mines

Starship Troopers

[–] psud 7 points 5 months ago

I can't imagine a ten year old boy who wouldn't be up for throwing rocks at land mines

But what about Bubba Joe's lifted F-350 dually with the extra huge exhaust pipes and big big American flags? He's a real patriot so there's no way it's worse than all of these vehicles.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 5 months ago

Worse? It's more deadly than an M1 Abrams! Deadly is cool.

[–] [email protected] 50 points 5 months ago

Man imagine if that was an enforced rule

Like, Trucknuts McGee isn't even allowed to move into a house that's too close to the school because he's driving something that's better rated as an Armored Personnel Transport than as a passenger car.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Meanwhile in Europe, trucks have a flat front so drivers have great visibility.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 5 months ago (1 children)

And we don't really drive "trucks" anyway, not as they know them in the US.

SUVs are getting annoyingly common though.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I think OP was referring to HGVs and not pickups.

It's definitely starting here too. Of course it's not as bad as the US but seeing those huge Dodg Rams or whatever is becoming more common. I guess I have to get used to it because I get annoyed every time I see such a car

[–] [email protected] 30 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Just make the children taller

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

You maybe could if you increased welfare, but US is doing excellent job driving it to the ground

If they don't care about school shootings, they are not going to care about this.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

Yeah, I was gonna say, I've never heard about lifted trucks being banned in school zones.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (2 children)

If they are to drive an armored vehicle on public roads during peace time, even the military necessitates a vehicle commander standing out of his hatch with direct communications with the driver so he can have an overview of what's around the vehicle and compensate for the driver's blind spots. It is a basic safety rule.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 5 months ago

What, no driving an MBT into a school zone with all hatches closed? I'm sure we're all very shocked at this revelation.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

Also he needs to be up there to hit them with his sword.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 months ago (3 children)

I was not wondering this but now I'm wondering why you were wondering this

[–] [email protected] 26 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Driving their MBT is a "there will be signs". OP won the lottery and was worried about school zones, like all responsible MBT operators.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago

Honestly good on OP. We could use more good role models to show the youngins what responsible tank ownership is all about.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 10 points 5 months ago

You could add the "I♥️Gaza" sign in the tank path. They love filming themselves running over signs

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago

It'll be important to watch out for children if Ukraine moves into Crimea.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 5 months ago

My homie said he peeled a bloody backpack of some kid out of treads of one of those tanks. Driver started crying and throwing up. Fuckin brutal.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 months ago

Ryan Fortnine made this point by climbing inside the engine compartment of a Dodge Ram.

They didn't modify the truck and dude is over 6' tall.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 months ago (1 children)

They really need to adjust their aim. They're just grazing those kids.

A BMW M1 sports car, produced 1978-81, only sits 1.14m tall, it’s probably got even better sight lines.

Not totally true because my sierra 2500 has cameras in the front, shows you what’s immediately ahead if you’re going less than 15 mph or so. Beeps like crazy and vibrates your asshole if there’s something in front.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 months ago (1 children)

vibrates your asshole if there’s something in front.

Rush hour traffic must get interesting

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago

Fucking sold, goin to the nearest Sierra dealership rn

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago (4 children)

Is that why big trucks tailgate me? They just want their asshole tickled?

The fact that this needs to exist is absolutely ridiculous

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 months ago (1 children)

...vibrates your asshole...

There is SO much to unpack in just three words! Omg 🤣

Yeah but presumably the parent in the M1 has a spouse operating a surveillance drone to provide real time ~~fire~~ child correction?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Typically they don't operate without infantry support, so they'd likely be in radio contact with forward observers. But yes, in some circumstances it could be a reconnaissance UAV.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

Thank you this kind of comment is why I come here.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

Having the engine at the back of the vehicle always helps.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

I had to verify. My Ram Power Wagon is 1.45 meters (57”) at the hood height. I’d consider it closer to 60” at full top since it’s so squared off, but who’s counting….
