What a horrible driver

Every time this is posted I have the knee-jerk reaction that it's Photoshopped just because it's so ridiculous. It's basically an art project.

Don't you just wanna make that whole thing into a single sticker and sell that bad mofo on Etsy or something?

One thing that always blows my mind with east/west coast drivers in the US is how differently they use the horn. SoCal drivers are unhinged and it's a terrifying place to drive, but no one ever honks unless absolutely necessary. You could probably get away with this much honking on the east coast, but on the west coast you'd get fucking shot. People are more considerate about not over honking than they are about straight piping their mufflers.

Lol. I'm really not an aggressive driver, but honk like a motherfucker. It keeps traffic moving at Rush hour. East Coast cities be like 🤗📣

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

East Coast cities have people swerving into the other side of the road because they're texting and driving, and unfortunately I don't have a button on my car to tell them to put their phones down in English, only car!

I can’t imagine that. Everywhere I’ve ever lived, nobody beeps unless something egregious happens. Why beep just to make noise? That’s insanity and annoying to everyone around.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Not just to make noise, it's mainly to wake people tf up at lights, or like the other poster said, to let them know theyre drifting outta the lane. And yes, some vengeance honks as well.

west coast is too passive about it in some places. i've pulled a turn and then seen a car in my mirror like 5 feet from my bumper, slamming its breaks. now i know i need to be more cautious around these low visibility intersections... but he didn't even honk at me: how much unsafe shit am i pulling without knowing it because nobody ever tells me. honk at me, for god's sake!

another issue here is the sheer number of people who drive with their lights off after dusk. because if i flash my lights at them to alert them of it, they don't get it. because the tendency here is to interpret any form of communication as aggression instead of as communication 😐 which, i mean... "self-fulfilling prophecy" isn't quite it but it's not far from the mark.

So many socal drivers are incompetent on every level. Like I said, terrifying place to drive 😮‍💨

So what's going in here, they ascended to Honk Heaven or something?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I don't want to include any spoilers, but that's impressively on theme with the game for what I assume is a guess! 😂

But not quite - big honk (vs little honks, which are also a thing!) can call to other players and creatures on the map to varying results.

Here we see the big honk being used to call all the nearby butterflies who then give the players a boost up towards (in this particular case) a hidden spot where they can collect Winged Light.

If you big honk around crabs, they will flip over and stop charging at you, and you can even pick them up! But if you big honk at the angrier shard crabs, all the ones nearby will charge at you at once! 💀😂

If you big honk while riding a manta, it will give you a big flight boost (basically fling you way up in the air so you can start flying from higher up or reach hard to fly to spots).

If you big honk near another player who is low on charge, your honk will fill their light, and will also show you on the map to everyone on the server, so they know you might need help (though you might just be flipping some crabs lmao).

In other words (from that site):

HONK

lol

And I'm sure that's more information than you were looking for, but there it is! 😂

here's what Google lense gets when you try to copy text

"CHECK EGING

REMEMBER HonkiF YOU HONK ALLYOU, IF ANYTHING AT MEI WILL HONK HONK if you get any closer U HAVE TO HONK IF IF IF YOU HONK IF YOU HAVE EVER BEEN PERSONALLY VICTIMIZED BY I HONK MYSELF WANT HONK

Vibe"

I'm quite fond of the vibe at the end.
