It's antisemitic if you don't let Israelis sexually assault, torture, murder, and steal from Palestinians and other "undesirables."

Committing atrocities since inception, no wonder my government loves them so much.

The official account can't decide whether she was between 10 - 15 or 15 - 20; given that the soldiers involved clearly lied about literally everything we can now prove wrong I'm going to guess the Israelis in fact did take turns raping a child over several days.

Don't breathe, breathing is antisemitic.

Yeah, unfortunately, I can't find archives of the more recent articles since the paywall has been implemented some time in 2022. The second link is Middle Eastern Eye covering the same event, which isn't paywalled.

Just want to go on record and say that the settlers really should not be considered non-combatants.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If you say that, then the settlements aren't a war crime.

Occupation is legal under international law. Israeli settlements in Palestine are illegal because it's a war crime to move a civilian population into a militarily occupied area.

I don’t mean to say that they should be given a legal fig leaf. I mean that they are participating in violent suppression simply by being settlers on land that the IDF scrapes Palestinians out of.

Haaretz has been fairly liberal and even calling out Israel's government for the last couple years...

I'm honestly surprised how well they've been doing. There's even an article on their homepage now (rightfully) saying Netenyahu is responsible for this entire situation.

its all about to end though.

The state of Israel has evoked laws of war now, and anything that can be considered "harmful to the national morale" means that police can arrest civilians, remove them from their homes, or seize their property if they believe they have spread information that could harm national morale or served as the basis for enemy propaganda.

See: basically everything that doesn't line up with the ultra far right.

During the past week. The ruling political party "Likud", have armed settler militias, and basically assigned them as marshals, and they have been threatening left wing politicians, journalists etc.

There are even Hareetz journalists that have had to flee their home from these settler militias.

looks like Israel's following Russia's footsteps, and USA probably won't bat an eye.

They're the leftmost mainstream Israeli newspaper

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Great to see good balanced coverage, sadly it looks like I need to sign up to view the content though.

Haaretz has a mixed bag of writers. There's a very clear trend with the with the nature of the article, and the writer themselves. I don't know if journalists like Hagar Shezaf, Amira Hass, and Adam Raz are anti-Zionist or just pro-human rights, pro-justice, but what they are doing is beyond admirable. Nationality / Tribalism plays a large part in the identities and ego of many humans. To go against that and subsequently incur the scorn of those that you are supposed to identify with is something that I myself cannot fathom. So when people do just that, all for the pursuit of truth or perhaps something even greater, I cannot help but respect, admire, or even love them. When humans have every logical reason not to do something, but they do so anyways because of what they believe is right, that speaks volumes on both their character and action. For that reason, I have explicitly decided to showcase Haaretz articles regarding this conflict, whenever possible, even with that shitty dog-shit steaming pile of garbage paywall.

If you look at everything through the lens of Palestinians being subhuman, Israeli actions make more sense.

Also continued support of Israel by Western powers for that matter.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Doesn't matter which side you are on, no human should be treated this way.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

no human should be treated this way

Absolutely, and that's why an Israeli newspaper is reporting this, and the IDF's own military police is conducting an investigation and has already suspended the commander in charge.

Now I'm looking forward to a Palestine newspaper condemning the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks, and Palestine authorities investigating the issue and prosecute those responsible.

Well, all Gazans which I'm sure is what you meant by Palestinian since the West Bank is governed by the Palestinian Authority, are currently being bombed by the Israeli government. So you might be waiting a little bit. Especially seeing as Hamas hasn't allowed elections in 15 years.

I'm looking forward to Israel freeing Palestine.

You need a subscription to read it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Use Firefox relay to subscribe. I just did it, it lets me read 6 articles a month apparently. But I'm going to try to use relay again after I read the six. Let's see if it works.
