After some arduous work from the developers and many other contributors, the newest version of lemmy has become available!

Many long-awaited features are now available - like blocking instances and exporting/importing an account.

You can head over to the original post to look at the long list of new features: https://mander.xyz/post/7346514

Thanks a lot to the developers for their hard work! If you would like to support Lemmy's development, please make sure to check out the developer's funding drive: https://join-lemmy.org/news/2023-10-31_-_Join-Lemmy_Redesign_and_Funding_Drive

Great news! That explains why I was logged out :)

Probably! I hope this doesn't cause an issue logging back in for anyone.

Mobile apps seem to struggle a bit. Eternity didn't allow me to interact before I logged out and in again and Jerboa doesn't allow me to log in at all. But that's to be expected with such a big update!

The latest version of Jerboa should work

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm using 0.0.52, the latest version on F-Droid, and when logging in it returns "Illegal input". I'm not entirely sure whether it's 0.19.0 that is causing it though, since it's the first time I use Jerboa in a while, but lemm.ee works and they haven't updated so I directly assumed that it was that (bad science, I know).

You can get the APK of the latest version (0.0.54) directly from the Github release page: https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa/releases

Also can use Obtainium to fetch updates directly from the git services of apps.

Ooh, cool! I will check it out.

It is, I've been unable to login for almost two days using Jerboa. I managed on desktop and seeing updates were on the way, I installed Boost (what I'm using to reply right now!). Jerboa is still dead for me though, and I expect others may also run into issues.

The latest Jerboa version does work (Jerboa 0.0.54), but it seems it is not yet on F-Droid. You can get it directly from the github release page, or, as someone else suggested, using Obtainium.

For future updates, especially if they are as large as this one, it will probably be better if I make an announcement a few days before the update is expected so that users are not caught by surprise.

That's a good idea with the pre-update announcement, thanks for taking care of us Sal!

Thanks for the heads up about Jerboa but, for the moment, I'm happy with my new toy Boost! Cheers

I can't log in or access anything across lemmy from my Mander account on Liftoff for Android

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Hmm, I have not used Liftoff myself. But I have looked into the github issues, their lemmy community, and their matrix chat to get an idea of what the status is. There is no evidence that anyone is actively working on implementing the 0.19.0 update at the moment, unfortunately. So I don't know if/when lemmy 0.19.0 will be supported by it.

I haven't been around much (work, life, you know the drill) but I'd like to say a continued THANK YOU for running Mander. ๐Ÿ˜„

Nice to have you around :-) No worries, life has also been keeping me extra busy. I make sure to stop by a few times daily to do routine checks and make sure the instance is not on fire, but I haven't been too interactive myself.
