This. So many people's lives are inherently political and opting out is a privilege.

ShareWaste. You can sign up that you have a compost pile or chicken to feed, etc, and people with food scraps can find places to "donate" to! I have 3 or 4 regular contributers to my compost pile!

Some others have said, but it really matters how old you are and what your goals are. But as a general rule of thumb...

  1. money for bills and monthly expenses can stay in a low-interest checking (or savings) account. Keep only as much as you need for a month, maybe a bit as a cushion just in case

  2. money you're planning on spending in the next 1-5 years in a high yield savings account (you'll make higher interest) to use as "sinking funds" or an emergency fund (3-9 months worth of monthly expenses, give or take)

  3. invest the rest

Maybe it's time to take a class! Just in case she needs it again...

Sad question... In killing mosquitos, are you also killing other insects?

I'm reading Good For A Girl by Lauren Fleshman and Born to Run by Christopher McDougall

I just got a sourdough starter from my aunt and was excited to begin but all instructions seem so technical and overwhelming. Anyone who has been there/done that have good advice?

It all of a sudden became TERRIBLE and now I can't find anything? When did this happen? Why did this happen?

Anyone else having a hard time sleeping? My habit for the last 10 years or so was scrolling on RIF until I was ready to sleep. Now I'm navigating Lemmy, which I feel so-so about and it's not giving me the sleepy feelings. I just want to fall asleep! RIF, I miss you!

My sister and I were having dinner and reminiscing about old movies we'd watched as kids. We got to talking about one and could only remember a single scene, nothing else. We both googled and googled and FINALLY FOUND IT. Then found out it was free to watch on YouTube. Watched it tonight after dinner and it surprisingly held up.
(the movie was Little Secrets, it came out in 2001)

What movie do you remember but couldn't remember what it was? Did you ever find it?
