I love seeing all the people get mad that they can’t do this now that my local city has effectively banned visitors during flower season :)

You can still see it from afar, but a bunch of people got mad because they drove over two counties to trample and crowd the flower fields for their own selfish desires only to find that the area has been blocked off completely to cars and people.

Get fucked in the nicest way possible. Enjoy it from a distance like a normal person so everyone else can enjoy it and so the damn flowers can keep coming back each year.

Damn, I thought those people moved on from 2016 already. Gotta give it up and accept that Clinton lost 2016 fair and square already!

But why? This makes it taste better!

It’s a fantastic game. I haven’t finished it, but it was a really interesting atmosphere and I loved the horror game mechanics combined with that Bethesda feel it had. Felt in between Fallout 4 and Starfield with good components taken from each.

Sometimes I google painless ways to die.

I can relate to this feeling. It’s like feeling suicidal, without actually the planning or action, but a wishful type of feeling.

I was feeling this at my last job because this woman who worked an enforcement type position was legitimately harassing me for some reason. She made up lies and enabled others to lie to hurt me. I had worked hard in that industry that covered a county and built a name for myself, partially off the name my family had built in the industry, but was getting my own name because of the hard work I was doing. I was no longer “so and so’s son”, I was now being recognized by my name. And she just came in and messed it all up for me, made me look really stupid, and worse, it was all lies. I couldn’t do anything to reverse the situation. I tried speaking up and was called a liar publicly. I felt powerless and helpless. I still have no idea why she had it out for me. I worked very well with all of her colleagues and those who worked there before her with no issues. I had also been taken advantage of by a coworker at this time, really a family friend who had known me since I was a toddler, and she used that to deceive me instead of just being upfront with her intentions which would have been a lot easier to work with. All while dealing with a close family member going through stage 4 cancer.

I often “fantasized” about ways I could end it all without actually going through it or would take me out. I would be driving and fantasize about the idea of just letting go and letting my car run into a nearby tree at a high speed or off a cliff into the ocean…

Thankfully I (obviously) never did and ended up switching industries and moving out of the area entirely and now I honestly can’t even remember her name. With being out of that position, that family friend’s betrayal no longer follows me. My family member has since passed, but I am at peace knowing they are no longer in pain.

I’ve been in a good position ever since then in nearly every way. My new career is something I’m more passionate about and feeling more content. I actually have a work life balance now. I get along with everyone at my newer job and also don’t have to work with an overseeing agency like hers. My boss is amazing, and always has been from the moment I met him. I’m also glad to not be supervising anyone anymore. That was a hell of its own too.

I’m sorry you’re going through this and feeling this way. It sucks that having a job is so much a necessity that it can cause this feeling in us.

I suppose the moral of my story is that everything in life is temporary, which is both a blessing and a curse, but a blessing to you right now to know that what you’re going through can be temporary. There is an end and it can and will come. There is a light at the end of the tunnel that you can come out of this and find a decent job again and find fulfillment in yourself again. Though, I hope the feeling of fulfillment comes before that because your purpose in life shouldn’t come from what you do, but who you are as a person. I don’t say that to put you down with how you’re currently feeling and apologize if that’s how it came across.

Is there any way you can volunteer? As I write this, I wonder if that can help in some ways. For you to get out physically and not have to be in the same physical location all day which can be damaging for your psyche. For you to find some fulfilling purpose again outside of yourself. For you to see a different side and find reasons to be glad you’re still here. For you to potentially have exposure to others who may recognize your contributions and help you find a position elsewhere. All things that I think could help improve your current life situation.

If they implement it like Amazon, it’ll be a good addition. The little blurb summarizing reviews has been really helpful to know some of the most common things brought up by customers.

This sounds amazing. I’m just now hearing about this game and hearing it’s made with the Steam Deck in mind is an added bonus.

They know their audience because this is going to be very popular with people on the go and wanting something on the Deck.

It’s largely dependent on the hardware and software.

For example, old ass iPod Touches/iPhones can be brute forced with special hardware. I watched a video on this recently of some guy who found his old iPhone and wanted pictures off of it and the tech had a machine that would take a few days to guess every possible passcode combination. Though he was able to set a certain possible combination which helped decrease the amount of time to a few days.

That type of brute force is not as possible on modern hardware and software because manufacturers and programmers have gotten wise to it and developed better measures to protect against it, such as timeouts for incorrect passcodes. A few decades ago when we didn’t have this, it would still take a machine a few days to crack the code using brute force, but now you’ve added even more time on top of that to further slow the process, in hopes of the machine malfunctioning or just someone not wanting to waste time doing that.

The irony of this post lol

I sometimes see clips pop up on YouTube shorts of Trudeau and Poilievre arguing back and forth but their focus doesn’t seem to be on each other but looking in the same direction, occasionally looking at the other when taking a shot.

Me as a non-Canadian, I’m not familiar with this. What exactly are they doing and who are they directing these to? Is it one person or many others or is it to be in general to the Canadian population?

I went and saw The Wild Robot over the weekend without knowing a single thing about it and ended up enjoying the movie a lot. I truly think part of that was not knowing anything about the movie except seeing the poster, knowing the title, seeing the rating, and knowing it was for kids and was animated (which was evident by the poster and rating). Beyond that, I was clueless. I didn’t even know if the robot would talk or not. The story unfolding out for me entirely was nice to experience.

I won’t ruin any parts of the movie for anyone who may be in my position too, but if you’re into animated kids movies with a hint of sci-fi, you’ll probably like this movie.

I only became aware of this movie as I was checking on times for Alien Romulus and saw this instead. My girlfriend’s son is obsessed with robots so I knew this was likely a movie he’d like to see.

The only place where I’m bombarded with ads anymore is on YouTube on my phone and TV where my adblockers don’t work. So I had never had this movie advertised to me in the usual way others have been.

With the way YouTube ads work, I usually get bombarded with the same repetitive trailers that make the movie obnoxious to me after seeing the same trailer for the 100th time. And it seems that the theme over the past few decades is to spoil parts of the movie in the trailer. Like one of the trailers for Dogman that was shown before The Wild Robot in the theaters tells us how Dogman becomes Dogman… Being for kids, I’m sure it doesn’t matter and it’s not the focal point of the movie, but like, I would have preferred to find that out when watching the movie, not beforehand.

Speaking of Alien Romulus, I’m a fan of the Alien movies but the trailer before Deadpool 3 showed soooo many of the crew’s deaths that it really spoiled the movie. Part of my thrill of the Alien movies for me is finding out who survives from the crew of each movie. But not this one… which is why I still haven’t seen it. I just felt really unmotivated to go see it when it released last month and I didn’t see it this weekend because I’m okay with waiting for it to release for home and maybe I’ll forget what I saw in the trailer by then.

But The Wild Robot was exciting and very enjoyable and I think a lot of that had to do with the fact I knew very little.

I know that a lot of people share the same sentiment about trailers spoiling the movie, but my unpopular opinion is that I don’t want to see anything about it beforehand, in most cases. Give me a poster, title, rating, and I can figure out the rest as to whether I’d like to watch it or not.

This is not to say that movies should never have a trailer of any kind. No, far from it. Just don’t advertise the trailer so repetitively and even more than that, make the trailer available for watching on demand. If I am interested but still on the fence because your poster or title didn’t convey enough, then I can go searching for the trailer on a site like YouTube and watch it for myself.

Talking about those artists who are world famous and always have their treasured instrument(s) like Willie Nelson and his “Trigger” guitar.

Where do these artists typically store their instruments when not performing? If on tour, do they keep it on the bus or in their room?

I know everyone is different, but just wondering about some examples and/or the general places they’d keep them.

Hey all,

I upgraded to iOS 18 yesterday, so wondering if this is possibly due to that or something on the Voyager app’s side.

I’ve noticed today that if I’m on my profile’s page, or viewing a specific post, or browsing a specific community, and then I leave the Voyager app for a time to go to another app or the iPhone’s “desktop” and then come back to Voyager, Voyager will do a refresh and then go to the main page, which I have set to show All. It also refreshes the All feed whereas before it would stay where I left it when browsing All.

Is this a new update or did iOS 18 implement something that is causing this? Anything that can be done to not allow this to happen?

Thank you!

New guy on the team tells us he has a problem. I respond and he literally cuts me off mid sentence while I am explaining to him.

New Guy: I need access to this group so I can perform this action.

Me: I spoke with Bob yesterday after you left…

New Guy: Yeah but I need access to delete in this group.

Me: After you left, I spoke with Bob who gave approval to delete this entire group. So access to this group is moot.

New Guy: Oh.

Had you waited less than 10 seconds for me to finish my sentence, you would have allowed me to explain why you don’t need permissions. And you cut me off to say exactly what you already said. You didn’t cut me off to give me new information that was not already mentioned previously. I can somewhat understand if this was to give me new information, but no, you cut me off to repeat yourself after I gave you time to speak.

And he did it again shortly thereafter with another topic.

New Guy: They said they had issues on these servers where it wasn’t licensed.

Me: If you get the names of the users, you can check the logs and it will tell you which servers they were logged into and…

New Guy: They didn’t provide a list of users who logged in.

Me: That doesn’t matter because I was going to also say that you can run a script on all the servers and that will license any that aren’t currently licensed.

New Guy: Oh.

Like why? Why do people do this? Can you let someone finish their sentence before you blurt out whatever is on your mind? Have you no ability to hold onto a thought and bring it up when the moment presents itself for you to begin speaking? I may say something that answers the question you have. But you’ll never hear if you keep talking. You actually drag it out longer than it needs to be.

And it makes no sense considering we’re veterans and you’re asking us a question. You’re new here. You’re asking us for help.

I got to where I am today and I gained the knowledge I have because I let other people speak to tell me about what they know. And I even keep my mouth shut if it seems like I already know something, because you can learn new tips and tricks that may help you better understand the concept. And sometimes you may find that you were misunderstanding something. Or at the very least, you may find that someone else is doing something in the wrong or a convoluted way and that gives you the opportunity to be a teacher. And if it’s all information you already know, then fine. You wasted a minute of your life hearing something you already knew the answer to. Big deal.

I loathe teaching this guy new things and showing him new things because he does this all the time.

One of my other coworkers (who was visibly getting frustrated at watching me and himself getting interrupted) and I have talked about how this guy does this when we try to train him on a new concept. While explaining how to do something, he doesn’t wait until a moment presents itself for him to speak. He will just blurt out “I saw someone on Reddit do it this way.” And it’s so dumb because more than half the time, that explanation was flat out wrong, he misunderstood what was being done, or we do things differently for one reason or another. But you can’t just wait a few minutes for me to finish? You can’t just let someone else speak, especially when they’re showing you something that will help you in your overall career?! Maybe rando off Reddit was right, maybe they were wrong, or maybe we’re going to teach you a better way, one that has been improved upon since that comment was written…
