Mine is basically dead. One person periodically posts a news article but no one comments.

Both Lemmy and Reddit are mostly echo chambers. If you don't agree with the hive mind, you're down voted.
Rents went up for several reasons:
-
Lack of housing supply.
-
Increased costs for materials, contractor labor, utilities, increased costs for staffing, etc.
-
increased demand. People lived together during the pandemic and got sick of each other.
Wages have not kept up with everything else.
There's nothing wrong with that.
At this point, presently? People ~~acting like they are experts on Marxism without ever delving into Marxist theory~~
It's been beaten to death why housing costs are up. How many more articles will there be on the same thing?
If you rent at cost or even a little over you'll go broke. People won't pay their rent and trash the places. Non-profits are finding out that they can't even support what they're trying to do with housing because the actual costs are more than what you think are "at cost".
So you'd choose senseless violence. Good thing you're not getting any money.
It's an extra monthly fee to cover the cost of extra cleaning and repairs needed due to tenants having pets and the damage they cause.
That would be something you'd have to take up with the government. Maybe start local because every state can set different laws.
If they do, they get down voted.
