(This isn’t directed at anyone in particular) It’s so weird when we all become Nate Silvers of the left fighting about which Internet personality is the true way forward for socialism as if one of them can get out of the way and then suddenly the other one can finally usher the mass movement into America. I say this in complete hypocrisy as my brain is also completely under the thrall of internet ‘discourse’.

Sleeping in a $700/month coffin so I can invent technology that makes the world more callous and unlivable. Love me I’m a techbro!

Right. Suppressing dissent like… Imagine thinking we haven’t heard the fucking “default” politics of 99% of the internet and you’re going to come here and bring us the good word.

Are they making up a person to be mad at? There are people who don’t like the Biden Harris ticket, but who LIKES Biden while simultaneously being particular enough to object to Harris?

None of us here are desperately hoping to vote for Biden just as long as he gets a new VP and neither is any Republican. Is it just Nate Bronze types talking about how she will drag down Biden’s favorability in polls that they’re mad at? I’m cool with being mad at that kind of a guy.

I paid off my loans working three shitty part time jobs and it didn’t make me mad at the thought of loan forgiveness it just made me hate capitalism.

Why should I want anyone else to have their time and energy sapped away pointlessly???

Correct. If someone can find a free copy of “Good vibes at the Iowa state fair” you’ll find will menaker laughing about the pig.

Tell all the Oppenheimer nerds that Jean Tatlock (probably) didn’t kill herself and then force them to read the Church Committee.

Spoilers: I think the game is instructive in its bleakness. Yes the revolution failed but the world is still populated with people who keep on living. Fetishizing the old revolution and giving into the legitimate hopelessness will not save you or anyone else… that is to say, you love your ex something the way the guy on the island loves his revolution. Neither of you can bring it back, only destroy yourselves. But Harry can manage to make a new lifelong friend Kim, help the people of Martinaise in small ways, and discover something totally new and wonderful. The world may end but you still get to decide how you live in the ashes and there are still enriching experiences and relationships to discover.

I don’t think a game where you restart the revolution would be more uplifting because when you turn the game off it isn’t true. What the game actually is means something to me about our present reality.
