He is really racing back to the ground, that must be like the most intense few seconds. The Adrenalin dump after must be insane.

True, the companies get subsidised to build meaning you already paid for a lot of the up front cost through your taxes and are later price gouged again. And once it's over probably they stick the populace with the waste and decommissioning costs.

Example in the Netherlands, we actually had a foundation setup to run the nuclear powerplant, and they had to reserve money for the decommissioning. Once the end of the reactors life was passed, the decommissioning was paid for from the foundation, the money that was left was paid to the shareholders. Turned out the decommissioning was 20 million more expensive... Guess who had to pay...

The government should be building long term waste storage and mandating it's use by the nuclear facilities at cost.

Tell that to the guys doing trech to trech and house to house warfare in Ukraine. Your statement is objectively untrue. This is what also shook a lot of the western militaries, they thought this kind of warfare was over. It isn't.

Nuclear submarine tech

Sure! However the whole of Europe is currently under the nuclear umbrella of the US. If trump comes back, the US will have lost their ability to be relied upon. Meaning our own nuclear deterrence is the only option. The whole US presidential race is possibly already a signal that that horse has fled the barn, so it might happen regardless.

Price wise you don't need 5k ICBMs to function. A few dozen of the modern types suffices.

I'd imagine we will see France expanding their nuclear program or the EU as a block.

Good to see the creap UAVs are being countered with cheap interceptors.

What moral high ground?

With all the footage coming out of Ukraine with the fpv drones, the games seen in some episodes used for training make a lot of sense. The game Janeway and seven shooting small maneuverable airborne drones, comes to mind. But also guinan and the shooting colored dots. I have no clue what the games where called, but the prediction is spot on.

If we can't come in, you can't come out either

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan told PBS News on Monday that the agreement with Ukraine to fire into Russia extends wherever Russian forces are attempting to invade.
