You’ll never believe how far this mother/daughter quarrel over a bagel goes!

Concepts like rape don’t exist in the animal kingdom

Did you forget humans are animals? If you don’t like using the word rape to describe sexually violating an animal, there’s another one we’ve come up with… bestiality.

Same for the thing about taking children away

Are you seriously trying to say humans are the only species who should have a right not to be sexually violated or have their children taken from them and killed? Since we know that cows are thinking, feeling, emotional creatures capable of forming strong family bonds… what exactly is it about humans that makes them special in that way?

Sorry, I don’t find any of the actions I described above to be sane. And if you think I’m being sensational, you haven’t watched Dominion yet, and you should. I was actually just describing the “normal” aspects of the dairy industry; the reality of the conditions these living, thinking, feeling beings live in are even worse.

Same here, and I’d rather be down-voted into oblivion than pretend my past actions weren’t “questionable”. I’d love to say I’m a proud vegan, but truthfully, I’m not proud of being vegan; I’m ashamed and regretful of how long it took me to become one.

Funny you mention that. I just got an email last week that my youtube music price was going up to $16.99/month. I’ve used it since the days of google play, before it joined with youtube and it was like $9.99 (mostly out of a dislike for spotify). But it isn’t the best service tbh, what with low-quality audio and a buggy app interface. So I was finally motivated to make the switch to Tidal this week. Loving it so far… hope they don’t follow suit and up their sub price like the others (knock on wood).

FWIW, the email I got from youtube said something about being able to sign up for a cheaper rate if I nuked my account and made a new one on youtube through a web browser. Not sure why that would make a difference, but I was too over it to even bother.

I was addicted to lemmings as a kid! I recently just saw a video for a new game called "Humanity" which looks like a modernized play on the same idea, with crowds of people instead of lemmings.

Yeah, their response seems to basically boil down to ‘It’s doing great if you consider it’s ps5 exclusive’, which kinda misses the point. It’d probably have sold even better than 15 if it wasn’t. It’s just strange that they’d neuter their own potential for sales. I’d have bought it too, but I’m already losing interest, and there’s no sign of it coming to other platforms anytime soon.

I remember reading Timothy Zahn as a teen and not being able to put the books down. Tbh I think his plotlines are better than the movies.

The Star-spangled Banner (where the phrase “Land of the Free” comes from) was written in 1814, 51 years before slavery was abolished. The idea that America is or ever was the land of the free is a total joke.

On my first watch-through and this episode was great, I love time anomaly episodes. Also really appreciated how, as the show comes to a close, this episode asks the question "Was the journey worth it? If they could go back and undo getting stranded in the DQ, would they?" And of course we discover through Chakotay's dialogue with Janeway that the journey has ultimately been worth it.

Anyway at the end, Janeway remarks that she knows where Chakotay hides the cider and cites the temporal prime directive. So does this imply she remembers the whole thing? If so that really kind of changes things for the whole show prior to this, for example she would have already known they were going to be stranded in the DQ from episode 1. So while I like the idea I'm having trouble reconciling it?
