Once again, big thank you to a couple of posters here that have helped me out of a bad situation.

I haven't named them in case they prefer to stay anonymous, but guys, you are absolute bloody legends!!! I never heard back from that reference guy. He legit just disappeared off the face of the earth...

[–] Duenan 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Are you in the clear yet as far as references go?

Not cool that your previous reference guy disappeared :(

[–] Gibsonisafluffybutt 11 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Thankfully a poster has offered to speak to the recruiter for me tomorrow πŸ™‚

In fact a couple of posters offered to lend a hand, for which I am incredibly grateful and quite honestly humbled. Without the help of some of the people in this forum, I would not even be in consideration to start work next week.

Oh, wow. So last week I explained the situation with my current school to the lady from the TAFE. She asked around and has been able to organise for me to start before my unenrolment is officially processed. I have missed the intake date now which was yesterday evening.

But she just sent me the enrolment paperwork I need to sign, and once I've done that, she said I can just organise a phone call with the teacher to catch up on what I missed and can start next Tuesday!

Holy fucking shit, it's wild how things go from 0-100 so quickly. I was about 75% expecting to not start until the next intake, but it's going to finally happen...

Edit: bloody hell, today must be the day of things happening because I just got a call from the police about the report I made 8 days ago

[–] LowExperience2368 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Exciting! What will you be studying?

[–] Baku 7 points 3 months ago

Yep! Cert III in community services

After some awful sleep bathed in sweat and feeling like my brain was going to explode from overheating and headaches, I still feel sick so another day off work. Grumble mumble moan. Today I'm not going to do stupid shit like try and read academic articles to catch up on uni stuff, I am properly resting.

I didn't want to either as I was sitting in front of my heater.

I've forced myself to go to work.

Currently reading The Expanse. And not getting enough sleep as a result.. First book(s) in ages that gets me saying just one more chapter at 2:30am...

[–] TinyBreak 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Duuuuude that book DEFINES "One More Chapter" at 3am. DO NOT start the last book late at night, you'll be up till 10am the next morning finishing it.

I know it's late, but I think I'll read a bit of Master and Commander before bed. I heard on a podcast the series is actually a good read so I picked up the book and read a couple of pages at lunch.

Work is approximately 6 meters away. I don’t think I can make it.

So I did my tax online last night. I owe money. Seems like HECs debt is the reason.

Can I go back to being a kid?

[–] StudChud 8 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (4 children)

So the RE has forwarded the call fee invoice to us from the plumber. I expected it, because it was my washing machine.

It's $500. FIVE HUNDRED! For the guy to diagnose the issue in less than half an hour.

Lucky I got my tax return today, paid it in full and did some ass-kissing in the email back to the RE. Like, plumbers have to do a lot of gross things, of course they should be compensated appropriately, but he just moved my fridge and washing machine and walked around with his detector device. Lol. He made bank.

[–] SpinMeAround 6 points 3 months ago (3 children)

It might be worth calling and letting the plumber know that the RE has passed the charge to you - sometimes they charge crazy fees because they know they can. Total shit practice, but maybe it's worth a try?

Feeling terrible that it took me so long to notice Melbcat was still sick. When she was fussy about food I thought she was just tired of the usual flavour, and when she was wiggly I thought she was jealous of the computer or bored. She hides it well.

I’ve been wrapped up in my own struggles, getting overwhelmed by literally everything, and didn’t pay attention as closely as usual.

Edit: Yeah… I’m giving these socks one chance to come good in the wash and then if they’re still too tight they’re getting donated. The point of buying new clothes and lip balm was to be more comfortable and if something is not doing that then it’s just clutter.

Too sick and in too much pain to stuff around anymore or tolerate anything that makes me feel worse. Also fuck how I look

She emailed me to tell me he hasn't called her.

He's not answering my texts or calls either.

All he had to do was make 1 phonecall for 10 minutes and because he's gone AWOL, I won't be able to start my job.

Fucking hell.

I'm buying some new slippers and have to make the difficult decision between pink or purple.

Edit: I've gone with purple, which looks to be a popular choice!

[–] TinyBreak 6 points 3 months ago (2 children)

pink shows the dirt way worse than a dark purple. moccasins are where its at.

I can definitley attest to that - my current slippers were originally pink but are now more of a pinkish brown colour.

I hurt all over. Today is a busy day. Bah.

Worried about my health too. Been feeling not great

[–] Baku 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Today's been a productive day. I sorted out the meeting with my current school to unenrol, that's happening next Thursday. I sorted out the situation with my new TAFE school, and although it's not officially processed and I'm not enrolled yet, she said there shouldn't be any issues. The program manager ordered one of the replacement phones, and said she'll organise the replacement MacBook before the end of the day (though she seems busy so I'm not holding my breath). I called the police man back (I only had 5 minutes before a GP appointment when he rang so I said I'd call back). He wanted me to send him an email with photos of all the damage as well as an itemised list of everything that's damaged or stolen.

I thought it may be an issue that I've been finding more things missing every day since the police report, so the police report doesn't have a complete list, but he said it's no problem and that tends to happen to most people. So I sent him that email. And then I went and made a psychologist appointment I've been putting off for a while.

Also the DT is at 178 comments and it's only 3pm. Guess I'm not the only one having a productive day!

Edit: unfortunately it seems the psych I chose is retiring at the end of the year, so she called to let me know she cancelled my appointment. She was the only person I found on the find a psych thingy that specialised in my problems and looked friendly :/

Coffee blend ordered today while on special from a cafe in Hurstbridge.

Heard due to their special there might be delays but I hope my order is ready for pickup before Sunday so my friend can pick it up for me.

What did I order? A coffee blend of Guava, apricot, pineapple and mango.

I can’t wait to try it but nervous it won’t be ready for me in time.

Just waiting on my other reference to contact the recruiter.

He's a good guy but can be a bit forgetful.

Come on buddy, just call her.

Pet shop won’t let me place an order until I create a pet profile with my cat’s name, breed, birthdate and gender. As in I’d be forced to fork over those details to buy the items.

What the hell

Has anyone else run into this?

[–] Thornburywitch 7 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Enter name as 'Vogon', breed as 'sabre tooth tiger', birthdate as 1/1/1900, gender as 'undefined'.
