Hey, fam, long time. Missed you! I went to Bali! Got home at 3 this morning ๐Ÿฅฑ My sister had a baby (she lives there) and I got to hold him fresh out the womb, then hang with him for a whole month. My ovaries are on hyper-alert. I sweat more than I have ever sweat in my life. Got a tan. Saw heaps of geckos. Got a bunch of $1.75 Gojecks (then a $55 taxi from the airport to my grandparents' in Glenroy which sobered me right up). Swam like 5km a day (didn't lose a single kg though, annoying). It was a good time. I miss the baby though. Hope you're all doing well โค๏ธ

Hey Lemon.

Glad to see youโ€™re doing well and good to see you here!

Hope the trip to Bali was awesome and youโ€™ve come back just as the humidity has been high of late.

Things have really escalated with the Oven situation.

Roommate has agreed to pay, but I have had to leave home, as he has become violent and accuses me of "three days of torture, during his recovery"; due to the fact that I snitched on him to the landlord as he didn't fess up.

He also smashes the floor at night, and randomly screams. There's constant rants that my mental health issues are bringing him down, and that I am the cause of his mental health problems. I did once cry when one of my best friends went overseas, but I didn't make my problems his problem.

Meanwhile his recovery is going great. He continues ordering a bottle of Vodka a day on Uber Eats.

At least I'm going month to month on the 17th, so I can break lease under DV provisions without having to get an intervention order.

[โ€“] Duenan 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hey. I hope youโ€™re ok. Thatโ€™s a horrible situation to be in.

You just make sure that youโ€™re safe and arenโ€™t subjected to any physical violence. Itโ€™s not made any better that your roommate is could be in a drunken rage either.

Heโ€™s just using you as a scapegoat and itโ€™s only a step away from being physical at a momentโ€™s notice.

Is there anything any of us can do to help you?

A bottle of vodka a day? Fuuuuck. That's pretty hardcore drinking right there, and a pretty darned expensive way to live. Does nothing for his mental health, that kind of drinking, or that of those around him. I've been there. I'm sorry you had to leave your home, but sometimes it's the only way. I hope you can find a better situation for yourself soon ๐Ÿ™

Cheers everybody ๐Ÿบ

Please note the adopted numbat (John/Jane Doe) has not been named. This is killing me because everybody deserves a name for Christmas.

Please suggest a name in the comments below and then perhaps Catfish can choose one at the end of the night. Thank you.

Nellie. Nellie Numbat, Nellie Melba, it works for both alliteration and parochialism.

Scooted out into this magnificent day to get cash and some train snacks for tonight and couldn't pass up a pedi when I walked by the nail salon. I haven't had one for too long. This massage chair is wonderful too.

Otherwise I'm just a shower and putting my toiletries into my suitcase away from being ready to leave this evening on the last train out to Sydney.. almost gone.

[โ€“] PeelerSheila 8 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Elder minipeeler got the Five Nights at Freddy's cookbook for Christmas and had been wanting to make the pepperoni pizza recipe, so today we shopped for the ingredients and this afternoon made up the pizza dough from scratch. It gave me a good chance to explain how yeast and sugar work, among other things that might be relevant to him studying Food Technology next year. I forgot that, while I make pizza bases 2 days a week at work, I haven't really done it much at home with the kids๐Ÿ˜ž. Miniest was fascinated by how much the dough rises, and the finished result was amazing! I should've taken a picture of them but, living in the moment and not through a viewfinder, we damn near hoovered them down! There was enough dough for Mr P to make a couple of calzones with filling made of roasted capsicums and some of the pepperoni and mozzarella. Now I'm lounging around like a beached whale, but a happy and contented one.

Pizza dough is a basic survival skill. Also a lot of fun. This post is so wholesome.

After working on the report for a few weeks, and my boss saying it was good and almost done, his boss has had a look at it and removed basically half of it.

[โ€“] calhoon2005 7 points 10 months ago

So early to the airport my flight isn't even on the board. That's a PB.

[โ€“] Cendana 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Finally back. Created a new account on AussieZone, after lemmee stopped properly syncing so I can't see anything new here.

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56 6 points 10 months ago

Welcome back! I think most of us got locked out.

[โ€“] RustyRaven 7 points 10 months ago

I have had a very successful morning. I got some turkey from the food cupboard to have for dinner. I picked up my glasses, and while I was out traded in the Christmas scratchie which won another ticket and that one got me $10. I picked the last of the cherries off the tree and got about half a kilo. I trimmed the bay tree and got lots of leaves to dry for the food cupboard. And in a final gross but satisfying win I tracked down the source of a bad smell in the backyard (dead animal in a water container) and was able to get rid of it. So many good things to pack in to one morning ๐Ÿ˜

Todayโ€™s weather is perfect. About to lunch with a friend and got a primo outdoor table in the shade. Think itโ€™s a lunchtime beer type of day.

[โ€“] RustyRaven 6 points 10 months ago

I am now stuffed full of turkey, and finally have leftovers to go in the fridge. I might go and put them away, then take advantage of this beautiful evening and accompany Mr Woof on a post-prandial stroll around the neighbourhood.

As evil as Amazon is.. next day delivery is truly so incredible. I ordered some silicone toothbrush head cover things last night which just arrived.

I avoided anything Amazon for years as some kind of one man moral stand but there's no fighting the tide.

[โ€“] CEOofmyhouse56 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

That's it. It doesn't matter where you spend your mullah it's going to a millionaire anyway unless of course it's a locally independent trader like takeaway shops and bakeries which I'm more than happy to contribute to.

[โ€“] Seagoon_ 7 points 10 months ago

Living inner city without a car I rely on home delivery for so much. Home delivery keeps cars off the road too . It's good for city planning. ๐Ÿ‘

[โ€“] Mittens_meow 5 points 10 months ago

Same - but Amazon delivers to my house, auspost dumps every package at the post office. I have a parcel locker but so many shops donโ€™t deliver to locker.

I honestly think time stands still when waiting for a tram to come down Bourke st. You can see it stopped at the lights two blocks away and it doesn't seem to move for an eternity.

[โ€“] Alamutjones 6 points 10 months ago

Last day of work for the year. Okay

[โ€“] imoldgreeeg 5 points 10 months ago (5 children)

PAKIDGE!! A weekend of instant pot adventures await. I am hoping this means I can whip up evening meals more quickly (especially things like curries and casseroles from scratch) which means I save money on take away and can buy lentils and beans in bulk.

Anyone got any favourite recipes? Ohh I should ask this on the food thread too...
